Located at 8 Shalva Dadiani St in Tbilisi, Veliaminov is a Georgian restaurant that offers an authentic culinary experience at remarkable prices. Diners rave about the Khinkali, priced at just 1.7 GEL, substantially less than competitors. The menu features hearty local dishes like Kharcho and juicy kebabs, highly praised by patrons like Brandon Bishop, who exclaim that the flavors are unparalleled.
While many reviews celebrate Veliaminov's delicious dishes, the service has some inconsistencies. Customers have noted that the atmosphere can be bustling, sometimes leading to a rushed dining experience. Santa Claus mentioned a slight service hiccup, but he quickly brushed it aside, focusing instead on the addictive Ojakhuri and delightful Veal Chakhapuli. The generous portions often lead to leftovers, which diners appreciate, given the option to take home extra.
The ambiance is cozy and inviting, described by Мария Вершило as warm and welcoming. A vibrant buzz fills the air, offering a glimpse into local dining culture. It's a place where you can indulge in a broad menu filled with traditional delights, making Veliaminov a must-visit for anyone in Tbilisi seeking to savor authentic Georgian cuisine.

Reviews for Veliaminov
Review highlights
Based on 1,955 reviewsVeliaminov is widely praised for its authentic Georgian cuisine, offering generous portions at notably affordable prices. Customers frequently highlight the quality and flavor of traditional dishes like khinkali, kebab, and various stews, though some note occasional saltiness in certain items. The atmosphere is described as cozy and welcoming, contributing to an overall enjoyable dining experience. Service is generally considered friendly and efficient, even during busy times. While the menu is expansive and caters to diverse tastes, a few dishes such as the baked trout and homemade wine received mixed feedback. Overall, Veliaminov is recommended for diners seeking genuine local flavors in a comfortable setting without breaking the bank.
Me and my wife ate here for our last meal in Georgia and wish we had eaten here sooner. The prices were phenomenal, Khinkali for 1,7 compared to all the restaurants around charging 2,3 or 2,5. We also had the Kharcho and Kebab; and the kebab was so juicy and flavorful. Highest recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Foods are really great with affordable prices. Although it is quite salty compared to other restaurant, I kind of got addicted to its taste. We ordered Ojakhuri, Veal Chakhapuli, Chicken Liver and Baked trout. All are delicious except baked trout. Homemade white wine 1 litter is a bit strong in sourness. Regarding service, it was quick. We visited 18:30 on weekday and there was already a lot of customers but we luckly got a table without wait. One of waiters seemed to be rushed and irritated probably because the place is quite packed and needed to handle a bunch of orders. We saw a solo customer left unattentive for a while. We were also said clearly, "Order quick". We did not care whatever we are told but it is unprofessional so the service is 2 stars. We, 2 people, ordered 4 dishes as described above, however, we could not eat them all due to large portions especially for Ojakhuri and Chicken liver. But we saw taking out leftover is practiced, we did it as well. As I mentioned, the food is great. I would like to try other menu too
Very nice place. They offer typical local food and it's quite affordable.
We had a wonderful experience at Veliaminov – the atmosphere is very authentic, cozy, and welcoming. The service was great – friendly and attentive. We ordered the salad, chicken liver and beef khinkali – both were absolutely delicious. The portions were very generous – one dish can easily feed two people. You definitely won’t leave hungry Highly recommended – you won’t be disappointed
One of the best places to try local food! Quality is amazing, prices are very reasonable, service is friendly, and the atmosphere is great. Always busy but you can usually find a spot. Big menu with something for everyone.
I have read the reviews of this restaurant, from my experience I can tell you that it was good, traditional food, just like home, as well as the ambiance.
